Covid positivity rate reaches 3.2 in Lahore

LAHORE: With 115 new Covid positive cases reported in Punjab during the last 24 hours, the virus positivity rate in Lahore reaches 3.2.

Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Sara Aslam attributed the high infectivity rate with the presence of Delta variant in the city saying Faisalabad reported 2.4 infection rate and Multan 2.1.

In her statement issued here on Friday, she said the Delta infection was spreading in major cities of the province and the only remedy was to vaccinate maximum people.

She said the total number of positive cases had reached 351,707 in Punjab and the health department had expedited the process to expand scope of vaccination.

With no new death reported in Lahore, three patients breathed their last due to the virus in Punjab during the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 10,909, she said.

Sara Aslam asked the masses to follow SOPs saying timely vaccination was the only key to cope with the Delta variant, as it’s likely to be one of the dominant strains of Covid-19 in Pakistan and worldwide.
