Case against 10 policemen

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 28: Saddar police registered on Friday a case under New Police Order against its SHO, an ASI and eight constables on the charge of torturing a villager on the order of additional district and sessions court.

Muhammad Ashfaq of Chak 151 GB Kairoon had told the court that he had a land dispute with his brother.

He said his brother, with the help of SHO Muhammad Imran, ASI Talib Husain and eight constables attacked his house. They broke the main door, forcibly entered his house and beat him up. Later, they took him to the police station where they tortured him.

No arrest has so far been made.

FIRE: Cotton worth hundreds of thousands of rupees was reduced to ashes on Friday when a truck loaded with bales caught fire.

The truck was bound for Faisalabad from Bahawalpur. When it reached Chak 256-GB on Rajana-Faisalabad Road, a fire broke out and destroyed the cotton.

The cause of fire could not be known.
