Coronavirus claims nine more lives

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded nine more deaths and 113 patients of Covid-19 on Wednesday as Lady Reading Hospital made vaccination certificate mandatory for patients visiting its outpatient departments.

The LRH has resumed limited OPD services a fortnight ago after their suspension for several months. On Wednesday, it also asked head of the concerned specialists to examine the non-Covid patients only when they produced the vaccination certificate and negative test report of coronavirus.

Officials said that other hospitals were also going to resume OPDs with the same modus operandi as well as strict adherence to social distancing rules and hand hygiene.

They said that patients and accompanying relatives had been advised to undergo free Covid test and get vaccinated in the OPD to be able to be examined by the doctors.

Meanwhile, the province’s death toll from the pandemic reached 4,289 and incidence 173,360 since its advent in March last year. Of the infected persons, 95 per cent have already recovered. A health department report said that 234 more people recovered from the infection during past 24 hours.

Two persons each passed away in Peshawar, Battagram and Swabi and one each in Nowshera, Charsadda and Swat, it said.
