Medic’s poetry book termed valuable addition to Urdu literature

PESHAWAR: Speakers at a ceremony termed the maiden poetry collection of a medical doctor a precious addition to Urdu treasure trove.

Dr Akifullah Gamaryani, a noted medical doctor, published his first Urdu poetry volume titled ‘Hasil’. The book was launched in Abbottabad the other day.

The participants of the ceremony termed the book a valuable addition to Urdu literature and a fresh raindrop of spring for the tasteful readers. The poetry collection spread over 135 printed pages received appreciation from literary circles owing to crisp, lively imagery and wholesome symbolism drenched in local phraseology.

The literary genres in the book including Ghazal, Nazm and Qitaat are reflective of deep insight and critical thinking that define the poet more of a literary figure than just a medical doctor.

Dr Akif born with a taste and talent to create word images grew up with friends, who sharpened and even chiseled his mind to create world far from the mundane human stuff and to delve into the spring of fresh winds that fall like a soothing raindrop on bruised hearts and that was the spirit that dragged him to a beautiful world of fantasy.

The participants of the ceremony said that it was very rare that a literary tinge visited upon a person not in agreement with its temper and taste but in the case of Dr Akif the fairy of measured words seemed to have had fallen in love with a medical spirit and both could only correlate in soothing the hearts and minds.

Prof Nasir Ali Syed, a senior Urdu writer and critic, said that Akif’s poems were like miniature stories flowing with symbols, compelling the readers to undergo different conditions of emotions. His poems titled ‘Kamsin Ababeel, Kaliyan and Mazoor Bachy Ka Khawab’ were reflective of such rich symbolism, he added.

Dr Amir Suhail remarked that Dr Akif’s poetry also carried a blend of romance and overflow of emotions expressed in a masterly way and registered an instant impact on the poetry lovers.

Majid Shah, Wahid Siraj and Abbottabad Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abid also shared their views at the launching ceremony.
