KARACHI: AKU sends 4th medical mission

KARACHI, Oct 26: A fourth team of the Aga Khan University doctors left for the quake-hit areas on Tuesday to provide basic medical care and specialized treatment to the ailing survivors in and around Shaheed Gali.

The 18-member team comprises physicians, technicians and nurses equipped with all required medical and surgical goods.

It would establish its base camp at Garhi Habibullah from where smaller groups would be constituted to visit different villages. A few teams have so far managed to reach the areas, some 7,500 feet high from sea level. The team intends to provide medical care to about 600 patients a day in an area spread over 17-20 kilometres. In addition, AKU employees and students have raised over Rs4.8 million.—PPI
