LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar have condemned the opposition for resorting to politics of violence and attacking women parliamentarians in the National Assembly after the PTI government presented budget.

The chief minister said the opposition exhibited undemocratic, unethical and non-parliamentary behaviour, adding that ensuring the prestige and honour of the parliament was a collective responsibility.

He regretted the opposition members blatantly violated ethics by hurling abuses at women members and committed the worst offence by attacking them.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, the governor stressed the parliamentarians should not indulge in unethical behavior over political differences with opponent party members.

He said National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser categorically stated that stern action would be taken against all members involved in the clash that took place on the floor of the assembly.

PPP: Also, Punjab PPP leaders criticised the ruling PTI’s ministers and MNAs for their misconduct and use of abusive language against the opposition parliamentarians during the National Assembly proceedings.

Aslam Gill, Usman Malik and others said in a joint statement the atmosphere in the National Assembly suggested as if an abusive brigade had attacked there in the very presence of the speaker.

Condemning the ‘uncivilised’ behaviour of the treasury members, the PPP leaders said they (PTI men) desecrated the sanctity of the elected house and alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan was the mastermind of the hooliganism.

Questioning the motive behind the unruly behaviour of the ruling party’s parliamentarians, they said such kind of attitude in a legislative house is unacceptable and that Speaker Asad Qaiser should immediately step down for failing to run the house in a decent manner and thus defaming the national image in the eyes of the comity of nations.
