DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 25: Jampur police have registered cases against the nazim of a tribal area union council and his 15 men and the head of his rival group in the wake of a bloody clash in which a Houbara Foundation employee was killed in Harand police limits two days ago.

Initial reports on Sunday night had suggested that the clash was between hunters and a HF team over the issue of houbara hunting. But later it transpired that rival groups of Gorchni tribe had traded fire over the issue of protecting the HF camps as the foundation, engaged in the conservation of the endangered bird, pays tribesmen a handsome amount for security duties.

There are two HF camps in the area falling in Tuman Gorchani. It is breeding ground for houbara bustard but the government does allow foreign dignitaries to shoot the migratory bird. Local hunters have also clashed with HF teams in the past over the issue of hunting.

The chief family of Gorchani tribe is split over the issue of getting rights of protecting the HF camps. UC nazim Sher Ali Gorchani and his rival group led by Amjad Khan Gorchani have been fighting for the rights since long.

Baloch tribes become tense when the HF sets its camps in the area. In Tuman Khosa, there is a rift between chief family of the tribe over getting security rights.

In Tuman Mazari, the Mazari tribe is also divided over the issue.

The police have registered the case against the nazim and 15 other members of his group on the abduction charge under section 365, 148, 149 while Amjad Gorchani and Shahid Gorchani were booked under section 302. No arrest was made till Tuesday evening.
