A FEW years ago, the State Bank of Pakistan announced two weekly holidays for banks, except for some selected branches of commercial banks which were allowed to work on Saturdays. The decision was taken to save energy at the time. Now when the electricity situation has improved in the country, the SBP should reverse its decision as it will provide an opportunity for many employed/business people to meet their banking needs who are otherwise unable to visit banks during weekdays.
