LOWER DIR: Hundreds of enraged residents from Upper Jandol here on Friday held a protest rally at Kambat bazaar against supply of electricity to consumers of Kambat, Darangal and Miskini Darra on alternate days.

The protesters carrying placards blocked Samarbagh Shahi road to traffic and chanted slogans against the Pesco authorities for their failure to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity.

Addressing the protesters, PTI activist Ali Shah Mishwani, former tehsil nazim Saeed Ahmed and others said that with start ofsummer the consumers in Kambat and Darangal union councils had been given power supply on alternate days turn by turn.

They said that one day electricity was provided to the consumers of Miskini Darra and the following day to residents of Kambat and Darangal.

The speakers condemned the PTI government and its lawmakers for not resolving genuine issues of the people. They said the local lawmakers and Pesco authorities had been repeatedly contacted in this regard, but to no avail.

The protesters threatened to stage a sit-in on the main road at Samarbagh on coming Thursday if smooth electricity supply was not ensured till Wednesday.

ROAD ACCIDENT: Three youths were killed when a car skidded off a road at Osakai area in Ouch police station limits here on Thursday night, residents and police said.

They identified the victims as driver Mujahid Khan, 21, Ehtisham, 19, and Luqman, 17, all residents of Talash.

VACCINATION: Lower Dir district health officer Dr Irshad Rughani on Friday said that a total of 40,000 people had been vaccinated in the district so far.

Talking to mediapersons in Timergara, the DHO said that vaccinated people also included 8,000 women. He said that separate vaccination centres for male and female staff of schools had also been set up in different areas. He said that 8,500 people had got the second dose of vaccination.
