KARACHI, Oct 23: Saddar Town Municipal Administration has finalized all arrangements regarding cleanliness and illumination of mosques, Imambargahs and routes of Yaum-i-Ali procession to be taken out on Oct 26.

For quick response on public complaints and monitoring of arrangements for the procession, the TMA has set up emergency control room in the town office situated at Khialdas Park. The telephone numbers of the control room are 9211390 and 9211429.

Town Nazim Saddar Muhammad Dilawar along with TMO Saddar Mukhtar Hussain on Sunday held a detailed visit of routes of main Yaum-i-Ali procession including Empress Market, Preedy Street, Regal Chowk, Tibet Centre, M.A. Jinnah Road, Khaliqdina Hall, Bolton Market, Kharadar and Hussainia Iranian Imambargah.

Inspecting cleanliness works and repair of roads and streetlights, the town nazim said that all derogatory posters and provocative slogans had been removed while KWSB had been asked to ensure sanitation and repair of dilapidated manhole covers on the procession route.

Mr Dilawar also appealed to ulema to play their role for maintaining religious tolerance and brotherhood.

Meanwhile, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Nazim Wasey Jaleel chaired a meeting of town officials to review arrangements of Yaum-i-Ali.

The nazim directed police officials to make special arrangements to ensure free and smooth flow of traffic on the day. He said that newly elected public representatives of local administrations and police officials should coordinate with each other to ensure fool-proof security measures to cope up with any untoward incident.

Mr Wasey said that the town administration would make special security arrangements in surroundings of different mosques and at other sacred places. He said that cleanliness and repair of streetlights at surroundings areas of mosques and on the routes of processions would also completed in time.—PPI/APP
