KARACHI, Oct 22: Three men allegedly shot dead their brother-in-law at the latter’s home in Sohrab Goth here on Saturday.
The Bengali-speaking Waris Karim was found lying in a pool of blood when the police reached his house in a shantytown of Sohrab Goth in the environs of the city. Waris married Halima some eight years back and the couple had two children. Halima went home after a quarrel with her husband. Her three brothers pressurized Waris to divorce Halima.
Waris refused to divorce his wife and insisted on a settlement as he had two children and their future would be disturbed in case of divorce.
However, the three brothers of Halima, Shah Alam, Sozan, and Anwar, exchanged hot words and allegedly shot Waris to death.
Muneer, brother of Waris reported to the police accusing the three brothers of Halima for killing Waris. The police registered the case and started search for the absconding suspects.
BODY FOUND: The body of a boy, kidnapped five days back, was found on a street in Nazimabad here on Saturday.
Police said that Abu Bakr, 13, had gone missing some five days back near his Ramaswami residence, and his father reported this to the police station concerned.
However, the police avoided registering a case of kidnapping; sources said and added that it was the practice of police to avoid registering cases of heinous crimes to show the registered number of crimes less in their respective limits.
The police sent the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy where the doctors said that the victim received a bullet in his head.
He was identified by his father Haji Ashraf, who told the police that he did not have enmity with anyone. The police registered the case of kidnapping after the murder of the boy and still clueless about the killers.
The police insisted personal enmity behind the killing.
