KARACHI, Oct 21: The high-powered committee constituted for Sabzi Mandi met here under the chairmanship of Secretary Agriculture Department Nazar Hussain Mahar to look into the issues of Sabzi Mandi.

The meeting decided that master plan of the Sabzi Mandi would be revised and in this regard application to EDO (Master Plan) be made by the Sabzi Mandi administrator.

It was decided that the central purchase system of electricity supply from KESC would be terminated from the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr, while individual meters would be obtained for streetlights and other essential services like water and sanitation, cold storage, offices, and bank. In this regard, all available applications of growers and traders duly verified by Sabzi Mandi Administrator would be provided to the KESC to provide electricity meters to them against payments.

The committee also decided that the KWSB would carry out study to provide water supply to Sabzi Mandi from the current source or alternative source and prepare a plan in this regard. The Sabzi Mandi administrator would verify outstanding arrears and form a report to arrange funds.

It was further decided that all encroachments on public path and streets would be removed with immediate effect.

In order to protect the interest of growers, the meeting decided that all vegetables and fruits entering in Sabzi Mandi must be auctioned.—PPI
