Hospital starts minors’ heart surgeries

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has started open heart surgeries and lungs transplantation of children.

Riffat Anjum, a PIC spokesperson, said the institute would become the first pediatric hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the milestone.

She further said surgeries also included curing an inborn hole in the heart.

She said that the PIC had hired the services of internationally renowned pediatric and heart transplant surgeons, who had served in many countries and performed successful surgeries of minors.
