LAHORE, Oct 20: The house was told on Thursday that a murder case had been registered against a hired assassin and three unidentified people, who had killed Durkhana (Kabirwala) UC nazim on Oct 3.

Responding to a call attention notice submitted by PPP’s Mukhtar Husain Shah, education minister Imran Masood, who was representing the chief minister in the absence of law minister Raja Basharat, denied that victim Mehr Khizar Hayat had sought through a written application to the DSP or DPO protection against federal minister Raza Heraj.

According to the mover, the victim had moved the Board of Revenue against the minister who had got allotted hundreds of acres of state land in the name of his cronies against a paltry amount of Rs90,000.

The mover claimed the victim offered Rs5 million for the same piece of land. He also said he had copies of the application sent to the police officials and these had also been mentioned in the roznamcha (diary) of police.

The deceased had also sought protection from President Gen Musharraf against the federal minister while Sajju, the hired assassin, had nothing to do with the murder, he said.

The minister said the FIR did not include the name of Mr Heraj, who went abroad a couple of days after the incident. The police, he said, were making efforts to arrest Sajju and the three co-accused.
