BAHAWALNAGAR: The Rang Shah Police have yet to register a first information report (FIR) against the former station house officer (SHO) of the B-Division police who was dismissed from service 20 days ago for his involvement in a kidnap-for-ransom case, after the orders of AIG (inquiries) to lodge a case against him.
A case was registered on Feb 11 in the Rang Shah police station against five police officials of B-Division police and three drug peddlers for kidnapping Manzoor Ahmed and Khursheed Qamar for Rs2 million ransom. They were later recovered from the B-division police station by Pakpattan police.
When the matter was highlighted on April 3, the inspector general of police sought a report from the Bahawalnagar and Pakpattan DPOs over the matter on April 6 and initiated an inquiry, led by AIG Ibadat Nisar on April 8.
On April 8, the Bahawalnagar DPO dismissed the five police officials nominated in the FIR after an inquiry by SP Farooq Anwar proved them guilty. Moreover, the same day, AIG Nisar also ordered the Rang Shah police to lodge an FIR against the SHO but the Rang Shah police did not follow the orders yet.
The complainant of the FIR alleged that they have been facing pressure from the police and local influential people to withdraw the case.
Investigation Officer Mansab Ali said a copy of the inquiry report by the SP was required to register the FIR against the SHO. He said the five officials nominated in the FIR were on interim bail in the case. He said he had asked the officials, including SHO Matloob, to face investigation but no one was ready to appear before him.
Pakpattan DPO Malik Jameel Zaffar said even without the inquiry report by the Bahawalnagar SP investigation, B-Division SHO’s name should have been added to the FIR and it should not have been delayed.
He said that if he had the investigation conducted under his own supervision, there would have been no more delay.
Bahawalnagar DPO Zaffar Buzdar said that he had given exemplary punishment to the officials involved in the case and Pakpattan police was informed about the same. He said if Pakpattan police wanted a copy of the inquiry, they could get it through the proper channel.
CASE: The Dahranwala police on Wednesday arrested two workers and booked them over the issue of inappropriate videos of female students of a public elementary school.
The FIR, registered in the Dahranwala police station, said Sohail (a class four employee of the school) would pester a class seven student through phone calls. He also tried to sexually harass her in the school’s toilet and when the girl complained her parents about the incident, another class four employee in the same school threatened her father with consequences in case of telling someone about the matter.
The FIR said when the father along with other notables of the area informed the headteacher about the incident she also advised them to keep silent.
It said the girl’s father was a poor labourer so he kept quiet because of fear and embarrassment for many days while both class four employees did not stop blackmailing and harassing the girl and sexually abused her many times in the school’s toilet.
The FIR said action had been taken against them under sections 376, 511and 292 of the PPC and 25-D of the Telegraph act, on the complaint of victim’s father Maqbool Hussain.
