Pakistan has reported 201 coronavirus deaths during the last 24 hours, the highest single-day death toll since the start of the pandemic.

Previously, the highest number of deaths were reported on April 24, when 157 people had lost their battle against the deadly virus in a single day. Prior to this, the highest count of casualties was 153 reported on June 20 last year.

During the last 24 hours, Punjab reported the highest number of fatalities at 127, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 45. The national positivity rate is 10.77 per cent.

Breakdown of deaths and cases reported:

  • Punjab: 2,676 cases, 127 deaths
  • Sindh: 1,084 cases, 19 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 935 cases, 45 deaths
  • Islamabad: 327 cases, 5 deaths
  • Balochistan: 142 cases, 1 death
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 120 cases, 4 deaths
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 8 cases
