SIALKOT, Oct 19: Punjab Industries Minister Muhammad Ajmal Cheema has assured the business community that the government will soon introduce a special package of incentives to boost exports.
He was speaking at a meeting of local traders, industrialists and exporters here on Wednesday.
Sialkot District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema was also present on this occasion.
The provincial minister said the government would announce long-term policies for the promotion of exports.
Ajmal Cheema said the government had focused on the provision of business-friendly atmosphere as the trader community was playing a pivotal role in strengthening the economy.
He said that the government was also particular about the establishment of new industries in Punjab and efforts were being made in this regard.
He said one-window operation system would be introduced in the province to facilitate the general public as it would help resolve many problems pertaining to taxation.
The provincial minister said the government was also actively considering promotion of powerlooms in Faisalabad and surgical and soccer ball industries in Sialkot.
SMALL INDUSTRIES: The Punjab Small Industries Corporation has decided to establish four development centres each in Sialkot, Chiniot-Jhang, Sargodha and Lahore for providing updated information to the industrial sector regarding new trends.
Punjab Industries Minister Ajmal Cheema told the press here on Wednesday that the step would provide a strong industrial base, besides bringing about an industrial revolution in Punjab.
The minister said the provincial government would soon establish a Product Development Centre for composite material at Sialkot for the promotion of sports goods.
He said Business Support Centres would be set up at Sargodha, Chiniot and Lahore for boosting electric appliances, furniture and autoparts industries.
TRANSFERRED: The Punjab Education Department has transferred principals of two colleges for their poor performance in examinations.
They are Prof Ramzan Cheema of Government Boys Degree College, Daska and Dr Mussarat Iqbal of Government Postgradu-ate College for Women, Daska.
According to official sources, the colleges were showing disappointing results for the last several years.
