MANSEHRA: The district administration on Friday sealed many private schools for holding in-person classes for primary and middle grades despite restriction.

Assistant commissioner Sundus Arshad Malik told reporters that the schools were sealed in Mansehra, Pulrah and other areas of Mansehra district, while others were warned against violating the in-person learning restriction and anti-coronavirus standard operating procedures.

She led a joint team of the administration, police and health department for raids on schools.

Ms Sundus said the schools had been closed for primary and middle grades to stem the spread of coronavirus.

She urged the people to follow the government’s guidelines for own and others safety against the virus.

USC GHEE SEIZED: A joint team of the district administration and food department on Friday seized a large quantity of the Utility Stores Corporation ghee from a shop in Shinkiari area and arrested its owner.

Additional assistant commissioner Hasrat Khan told reporters that the subsidised USC ghee was meant to be sold at utility stores only.

He said the administration had also written a letter to the USC general manager for legal action against the officials involved in the illegal supply of that ghee to the shopkeeper.

The official said the shopkeeper was also fined Rs10,000.

BODY FOUND: The jeweller’s minor son was found dead in his house in the posh Ghazikot Township area on Thursday evening.

Abdullah Shahid, 10, was alone at home as his family went to the house of relatives in the city.

It found the boy to be in a pool of blood and spotted a kalashnikov near it.

The body was shifted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital. The doctors handed it over to the family after completing formalities.

The city police registered an FIR and began investigation to ascertain the cause of death.

Meanwhile, the residents of Shinkiari demanded of the district police officer to launch a crackdown on drug dealers, saying the local youth have an easy access to narcotics.
