Comstech, Turkish varsity sign MoU
ISLAMABAD: The Netkent Mediterranean Research and Science University was officially inducted as a member of Comstech Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) on Tuesday.
In this regard, the Netkent Mediterranean Research and Science University TRNC/Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding with the OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (Comstech). The MoU was signed by Coordinator General Comstech Prof M Iqbal Choudhary and the university’s Rector Prof Tayfun Turgay in an online ceremony.
With the university inducted as a member, the Comstech Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) comprises leading science technology and engineering academic and research institutions from the OIC member states.
By now, 20 top institutions/universities have become members of the consortium. Its aim is to create S&T interdependence among OIC member states and build capacity in key areas of STEM through exchange programmes. Comstech Consortium of Excellence was established last year by Comstech and the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the science diplomacy initiative.
Being a member of CCoE, the university will be able to exchange faculty, researchers, graduate and postgraduate students, scientific publications, study programmes, academic projects or any data or information on mutual understanding basis with any other member university of CCoE.
The CCoE membership provides an opportunity to establish joint supervision, research projects, publications and patents to the member institutions.
The Mediterranean Research and Science University will be able to organise joint courses, workshops, seminars and skill development trainings along with participation in CCoE’s annual meetings and other activities. Comstech may provide travel support to the visiting scholars or postdoctoral fellows.
