No leniency for miscreants, says Punjab IGP

LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police Inam Ghani has said the miscreants who created the law and order situation disturbing peace in society by blocking the highways do not deserve any concession.

He said legal action would be taken against such miscreants without any discrimination.

He further said the officers and personnel who were martyred and injured in the violence resorted to by (now banned) Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protesters were heroes of force.

The IGP directed the officers to inquire after the injured personnel on a daily basis, and ensure provision of the best possible health care facilities.

During his visit to the Jinnah Hospital Lahore to inquire after an injured police constable, the IG lauded efforts of the police personnel and the sacrifices they rendered in the line of duty.

“The spirit with which you performed your duties for the protection of life and property of the people is a source of pride for the entire force,” the IGP said.

He said the courage and enthusiasm with which the policemen laid down their lives proved that that protection of life and property of the people was the top priority of the Punjab Police. The IG presented relief cheques and flowers to the injured officers and personnel.

On the occasion, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar briefed the IG on the medical treatment being provided to the injured personnel.
