Shops sealed, owners fined

KOHAT: The Food Safety and Halal Food Authority officials on Wednesday sealed two shops and fined the owners for selling adulterated milk and expired items.

On the directives of the food authority’s deputy director Kamran Yousufzai, assistant director Syed Salman and food safety officer Rizwan Wazir leading a team checked different milk shops.

They found a milk shop owner involved in excessive adulteration, sealed the outlet and fined the owner Rs7,500.

Similarly, the food authority officials found 500 expired items at a shop in the main bazaar and sealed it. They fined the owner Rs15,000.

Food authority’s deputy director Kamran Yousufzai said quality food items would be ensured to people during Ramazan.

He warned the shopkeepers and milk sellers to mend their ways, or they would be sent to prison.
