Two projects worth Rs93.28bn approved

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday approved two projects worth Rs93.28 billion.

The CDWP meeting chaired by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Jehanzeb Khan recommended one project worth Rs89.56bn to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration.

Planning Secretary Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh, senior officials from the Planning Commission and federal ministries/divisions attended the meeting, while representatives from provincial governments participated through videoconferencing.

The CDWP approved National Programme for Water & Sanitation and Hygiene & National Programme for Impro­ve­ment in Local Infrastructure Livelihood worth Rs3.720bn. The project envisages providing 54,615 households surveyed in 101 union councils of five districts, development of a comprehensive MIS/dashboard, safe drinking water supply schemes and latrines to the poor households, brick pavements schemes along with sanitation drains.

The Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project worth Rs89.560bn referred to Ecnec for further approval.
