France has reported a further increase in the number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care while the country’s death toll from the epidemic also keeps rising.

Reuters reports that there are 5,769 Covid-19 patients in intensive care, compared with 5,757 a day ago.

Over the past 24 hours, 227 people died of the virus in hospitals, taking the number of people who have died of coronavirus in hospitals to 72,450.
