Sindh Minister for Education and Labour Saeed Ghani has clarified that the "impression being given that the Sindh government is closing everything" amid the third wave of the pandemic is "wrong".

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he said: "We are fully monitoring the situation and no decision has been made to close everything at this time."

Regarding educational institutions, Ghani said the positivity rate in Sindh was 2.6 per cent. The provincial government was closely monitoring the situation and conducting Covid-19 tests in educational institutions, he added.

A steering committee of the education department will meet on Saturday to review the situation, the minister said.
