Life near airports

Published March 23, 2021

IT is an established fact that people in developed countries want to reside away from the airports mainly to escape noise pollution. Governments also discourage housing near airports, particularly avoiding high-rise buildings for obvious reasons. In Pakistan, unfortunately, we have a fascination for airports and want to live close to them for reasons beyond comprehension. The new airport in Islamabad is a case in point where housing societies have mushroomed.

Human population generates garbage which attracts birds of all kinds, particularly crows and vultures. These birds are dangerous for the aircraft as they cause air accidents. Will the authorities concerned take notice in larger public interest?
