LAHORE, Oct 15: As many as 72 earthquake victims from Bagh, Mansehra, Balakot, Muzaffarabad and other areas have been admitted to the Services Hospital.
Medical superintendent Dr Riaz Chaudhry said on Saturday most of them had been admitted to the orthopaedic ward.
He said the patients were being operated upon. They were being provided best treatment as well as meals. Food was also being served to the patients’ relatives and attendants, he added.
Dr Chaudhry said 400 beds had been reserved for the quake-hit people. The hospital had also sent truckloads of medicines to Islamabad and Muzaffarabad, he continued.
LGH: As the earthquake victims continued to reach Lahore General Hospital, its administration has announce that the operation theatres would remain open and surgeons operate upon them on Sunday (today).
Presiding over a meeting of doctors and nurses on Saturday, Prof Sajjad Husain stressed that every official should take care of the victims admitted to the hospitals as a part of campaign to rehabilitate them.
He said the hospital had reserved two ‘musafir khanas’ to accommodate the patients’ relatives and attendants, where they were also being provided meals.
He said the hospital would also arrange tents if more patients were admitted.
Later, Prof Husain and medical superintendent Dr Ejaz Ahmad Sheikh distributed quilts, warm clothes, utensils, cash and other items of daily use.
PCRA: The Pakistan Chemists Retailers Association has sent three truckloads of medicines, frozen food, mineral water and warm clothes to Kashmir.
The PCRA’s 10 volunteers led by president Ishaq Meo left with three truckloads from Lahore Press Club on Saturday afternoon.
UVAS: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences on Saturday dispatched a consignment of relief goods to Higher Education Commission for distribution among the quake victims.
The university had already sent a team of doctors and students along with relief goods to Balakot. The university had also handed over a consignment of relief goods to the Hilal-i-Ahmar for the quake victims.
