HYDERABAD, Oct 15: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed concern over encroachments at the Nooriabad site by some land-grabbers through fake allotments.
In a statement issued here, the president and members of the executive committee of the chamber said that the foreign investors had started their projects in Nooriabad due to efforts of the government.
They said that the land-grabbers had started ejecting the real owners from the land through fake allotments and said that this had created disappointment among the industrialists.
The president of the chamber said that the grabbing of land was going on despite clear orders by the Sindh chief minister.
He said the Nooriabad DSP was patronizing the land-grabbers with the help of Tapedars and Mukhtiarkars.
He appealed to the Sindh chief minister, governor, and the corps commander to take notice of the land-grabbing incidents and order an inquiry against the DSP and other concerned officials.
MUET: The registrar of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, announced the list of successful candidates on Thursday who had been called for interview for admission in various disciplines of the university.
The interviews will be held according to the following schedule.
October 17: Interviews of the candidates from Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Mohammad Khan and Tando Allahyar districts.
October 18: Dadu, Jamshoro, Thatta and Umerkot districts.
October 19: Badin, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar districts.
October 20: Tharparkar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Nawabshah and Naushahro Feroze districts.
October 21: Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kashmore districts.
October 22: Khairpur, Karachi, Mehran University employees’ quota, diploma holders, biomedical engineering, self-financing and special schemes.
SU: The entrance test for all disciplines of the Masters programme of the University of Sindh will be conducted on October 16, 2005, at the Arts faculty building, Allama I. I. Kazi Campus, Jamshoro.
The admissions director, Mohammad Saleh Rajar, has advised the candidates in a notification issued here on Wednesday to collect their admit cards between 9am to 6pm from the Sindh University Model School (old campus), Hyderabad.
The university has established separate counters for girls and boys to get the cards, he said.
The admissions director has also announced that October 15, 2005, has been fixed as the last date for depositing the admission fee by the candidates of MBA (evening programme).
He has advised the students to get the bank challan from the directorate of admissions and deposit the fee at the branch of Habib Bank, Jamshoro.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the university said that a 10-member delegation of teachers and students of the Sindh University will leave for Islamabad on Thursday to participate in the relief activities at the earthquake affected areas.
MUET: The vice chancellor of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Professor (Dr) Abdul Qadeer Khan Rajput, announced here that the teachers, officers and other employees had decided to donate their one day basic salary for the earthquake victims.
The announcement was made at a condolence meeting held at Jamshoro to express sympathy with the families of earthquake victims.
The meeting was attended by the faculty and staff members of the university.
The vice chancellor praised the students, teachers and officers for collecting donations and said a team of students would leave for the affected areas within couple of days.
