PML-N flays govt over inflation, unemployment

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government for increasing inflation and unemployment, and asked the people to support the opposition parties in order to rid the country of the ‘incompetent’ rulers at the earliest.

Addressing a function on the fifth death anniversary of former MPA Arbab Akbar Hayat here on Friday, PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam said the PTI leadership had made tall claims about changing the fate of the poor, but it had failed to initiate any mega development scheme.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan was inaugurating old schemes which had been approved during the previous PML-N government, adding that PTI had long been in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but it didn’t provide any relief to the poor. “Installation of PTI plaques on the old schemes is no service to the nation,” he declared.

Mr Muqam insisted that the premier was expert in taking U-turns and using derogatory language against leaders of rival parties in order to divert public attention from his government’s weaknesses. “Imran Khan, being the prime minister, seems unaware of his official duties, otherwise he will have never wasted his time on criticising the opposition,” he observed.

Mr Muqam said the government had no concrete plan to control inflation as the prices of all essential commodities were going up with each passing day.

“The opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement would ultimately emerge successful in its struggle to rid the country of what he said the failed government,” he vowed.

Party MPAs Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha, Ikhtiar Wali Khan and other office-bearers also addressed the gathering and paid tribute to Arbab Akbar for the services he rendered for development of his constituency.
