FAISALABAD, Oct 14: Two teams of specialists and paramedics of the Allied and DHQ hospitals have been sent to Abbotabad and Muzaffarabad and the third one to the Cantonment General Hospital to attend quake victims.
These doctors and paramedics would perform their duties on a five-day rotation basis.
This was stated at a meeting held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Punjab Medical College principal Prof Dr A.G. Rehan to review the relief measures. Allied Hospital medical superintendent Dr Rana Bashir Ahmad, DHQ Hospital MS Dr Hameed Imtiaz, principal staff officer Dr Rashid Maqbool and in-charge of both nursing hostels also attended the meeting.
It was decided that the doctors, professors and other gazetted staff of the Allied Hospital, DHQ Hospital, PMC and both nursing hostels would donate their one-day salary for the quake victims.
The meeting was informed that medicines worth Rs1.5 million had already been sent to the affected areas by the teaching staff and doctors of the PMC and both hospitals. In addition, an amount of Rs200,000 was collected during the meeting which would be utilized towards the supply of medicines and equipment to the quake-affected areas.
The meeting also decided to set up centres to collect relief goods in both hospitals and the PMC.
