MUZAFFARGARH: The 21st death anniversary of renowned folk singer Pathanay Khan was celebrated at Kot Addu on Tuesday.
On the occasion, late Pathanay Khan’s son Iqbal sang hits of his father, including Kafis and Ghazals in memory of his father, who was also given the presidential Pride of Performance award in 1979. He died at Kot Addu in 2000.
Born as Ghulam Mohammad in 1926 at Basti Tambowali near Sanawan, Pathanay Khan gained fame by singing folk songs and Kafis of Seraiki sufi poet Baba Ghulam Fareed, Shah Hussain and Sachal Sir Mast.
A large number of people attended the event held at Kot Addu to mark the singer’s death anniversary, where the local singers also performed to pay tribute to him.
