Punjab has recorded 1,044 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours — the first time the province has reported more than 1,000 new daily cases since July 2020, according to data maintained by Dawn.com.

The provincial Covid-19 tally has risen to 177,008.

Punjab has also recorded 18 more deaths from the virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 5,552.
