SAHIWAL: The Karachi-bound Tezgam Express escaped an accident near Harappa Railway Station on Saturday when it rammed into a motorcycle left by his owner in the middle of the track.
Reports said an unidentified person tried to cross his motorcycle over double Lahore-Khanewal railway track. During manual crossing, his motorcycle got stuck on the track. In the meantime, the train arrived. The man left his two-wheeler in the middle of the track and moved away. The driver stopped the train after it hit the bike.
Railway police have registered a case. The train got late by 30 minutes.
TALENT PROGRAMME: The two-week-long divisional level talent hunt programme (THP) being organised by the Punjab Council of Art concluded with the final price distribution ceremonies held on the premises of Divisional Public School on Saturday.
More than 200 participants took part in seven categories. Sahiwal Arts Council Director Riaz Hamdani told Dawn that competitions were held in music, story writing, singing, poetry, painting, art and craft and short film making categories.
The winners of three districts in the seven categories competed with one another at divisional level. Momina Shabbir, Shahzad Akhter, Allah Ditta, Aneeza Khan, Murtaza Mahdi won first position in music, short film, art and craft, story writing and poetry contest, respectively.
Rai Hasan Nawaz of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf gave certificates and cash prizes to winners of all categories.
ACCIDENT: A youth was killed and two others critically injured when a car hit a motorcycle at View Hotel on Saturday morning.
Reports said youth Usama was killed on the spot while his two friends Abid and Rasheed suffered injuries.
Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to DHQ teaching hospital.
