Two suspected gangsters held in Rangers-police action

KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers and police in a joint action arrested two suspected killers of a policeman, who was shot dead in Orangi Town on Feb 18.

The paramilitary force and police carried out the intelligence-based action to arrested the two suspects, Javed Ali and Shan, who were wanted by police in the murder case of the police constable, Sheraz.

“The suspects belong to a dreaded gang of dacoits,” said a Rangers’ spokesperson.

According to him, Javed Ali and Shan along with their associates, Abid alias Chira and Faizullah alias Sir, conspired to kill constable Sheraz in Frontier Colony of Orangi Town. They called Sheraz on Feb 18 to Pakhtun Chowk in Metroville and shot him dead. They fled the area after committing the crime, the spokesperson said.

Following the incident, the Sindh Rangers constituted a special team that held an inquiry to ascertain a motive behind the murder and found a clue to the suspects with the help of technology. Eventually they were arrested in the joint action.

“Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects,” said the spokesperson, adding that arms and ammunition were seized from the suspects.

During the initial interrogation, the held suspects confessed to their involvement in several murders, attempted murders and dacoities.

“They committed Rs2.8 million dacoity at Binnoria Restaurant. They also snatched Rs20,000 and mobile phones from a hair dresser and their customers in Mominabad. The CCTV footage of the mugging had gone viral on the social media recently.”

The spokesperson further stated that the held susepcts along with their associates had snatched Rs5 million at gunpoint from owner of Madani Factory Mohammed Ayaz and manager Farhan outside their factory on Dec 2, 2020 and the CCTV footage of this criminal activity had also gone viral on the social media.
