PESHAWAR, Oct 12: MPA Syed Qalb-e-Hassan Khan on Wednesday called upon philanthropists, civil society organizations and other well-to-do people to donate more funds and relief goods for victims of the earthquake in Mansehra and Azad Kashmir.

He was speaking at a ceremony during which relief items were dispatched for the earthquake victims of district Shangla.

The relief items were collected in a camp arranged by the district government in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).

A truck loaded with various relief items, including blankets, warm clothes, shawls, jackets, shoes, milk, biscuits and other edible items, was dispatched to the earthquake victims of district Shangla.

A total of 40 volunteers also went to Shangla to participate in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of demolished homes.

They will also participate in rescue and relief operation besides arranging blood for the injured.

MPA Syed Qalb-e-Hassan Khan said that the people of district Kohat actively participated in the relief camps.

He said that the people were curious to donate and even the labourers were participating, even to donate their daily wages. Children, women, old people and students actively participated in the mobilization process for raising funds for the earthquake victims of Mansehra and Azad Kashmir.

The newly-elected district nazim, Seth Gohar Saifullah Bangash, said that thousands of people were in dire need of relief items, medicines, edibles and clothes.

He said that the district government would leave no stone unturned to contribute more and more funds and relief items for the victims of Mansehra and Azad Kashmir.

District Coordination Officer Arshad Momand said that it was the need of the hour to donate largely to support our brothers who are looking forward towards our support.

“Especially the injured are in extreme need of blood and medicines. I appeal to all the citizens to donate more funds and relief items for the sufferers,” the DCO said.

Regional Literacy Coordinator Tariq Javed Khattak said that the NCHD was focusing on raising funds and relief items for the sufferers of Mansehra and Azad Kashmir.

He said the NCHD is making hectic efforts to mobilise more and more people in order to convince them for maximum donations, and added the NCHD is arranging relief camps in 17 districts of Pakistan where they operate to collect more funds and relief items for those affected by the earthquake.

He said that hundreds of volunteers of the NCHD were striving hard to rehabilitate the homeless people of the three adjoining districts, shattered by the earthquake last weekend.
