Shortage of tents

LAHORE, Oct 12: Tents, which philanthropists are desperately looking for, to send them to the quake-hit areas have gone missing in Lahore.

“People from all over the country are sending everything to the affected areas like food, medicines and clothes. And the affected people now desperately need tents to protect themselves against rain and cold weather. But there are none,” a philanthropist told Dawn by telephone on Wednesday.

He said he and his team of volunteers had gone from pillar to post, but there was no tent. Factory owners were saying the tents would be delivered at least after 20 days despite the offer to get as much as they wanted for the consignment, he said.

He appealed to the government to look into the factor and arrange for the tents from local or foreign markets so that the affected people could be provided with the much needed shelter.—Staff Reporter
