WHILE going through the activities of various social welfare organisations operating in the country, spending billions of rupees collected in lieu of zakat and donations, it has been observed that number of help-seekers is increasing exponentially due to the ever-increasing cost of living.

Besides, the relief serves as temporary respite and not as a permanent solution. The government needs to invest in human resources development in order to facilitate those who have been compelled to look towards charity organisations in the first place.
