PESHAWAR, Oct 11: University of Peshawar Vice-Chancellor Mumtaz Gul on Monday announced two-day leave for varsity students to carry out campaigns for mobilizing and collecting funds for the vice-chancellor relief fund. The vice-chancellors donated Rs100,000 for earthquake victims.
However, there would be no holiday for official work.
He also announced one-week leave for schools and colleges affiliated with university as a result of the high magnitude quake that killed thousands of people.
The leave has been given as part of pre-emptive measures to avoid more risk and to devote more time to relief activities.
In a meeting held on Tuesday it was decided to constitute three committees, volunteer committee, coordination committee and a third committee would pay visits to the city in order to collect funds.
The meeting was presided over by the vice-chancellor and attended by deans of faculties, heads of departments and Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat director.
Mr Gul urged the deans and heads of the departments to help people who suffered losses due to the devastating earthquake and initiate the campaign with zeal and fervour.
