Measures to revive players’ interest in Tests being considered: Mohammad Wasim

KARACHI: Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim on Wednesday said he is aware that many young cricketers around the world are losing interest in five-day Tests and measures to revive their interest in the longest format are in the offing in Pakistan.

“Not just in Pakistan but also in other countries around the world, we can see this trend of players shying away from Test cricket is catching on,” said Wasim “I am talking to players individually and you will perhaps see further improvement in terms of financial incentives for the red-ball cricketers,” the chief selector added. “Incentives such as enhanced match fees etc are under consideration for Test players.”

The chief selector, while elaborating his strategy for fast bowlers, said that potential pacers, noticed during the domestic season, would be sent to the National High Performance Centre for further training to expand the available pool of bowlers.
