Youth Hockey Club win Kashmir Day exhibition
KARACHI: Youth Hockey Club beat Hanif Khan XI 3-1 while KHA Women’s Orange defeated KHA Women’s Blue by 1-0 in the Karachi Hockey Association’s Kashmir Day matches played at the at the KHA Sports Complex.
According to the results, Youth Hockey Club got victory over Hanif Khan XI with score 3-1. Aliyan Saleem , Hammad Ayaz and Shazaib Khan scored one goal each for the winners while Naeem Ahmed from the opposite team reduced the margin for the losers.
The match between Musheer Rabbani XI and Rashid Rabbani XI ended in a goalless draw. KHA Women Orange defeated KHA Women Blues by 1-0 Mehreen Khan netted the only goal for winners.
KHA Blues won the boys under-9 match by defeating KHA Orange 1-0. Umer Hasan scored the only goal. In the last match KHA Orange defeated KHA Blues 1-0.
Vice Chancellor of the NED Engineering University Professor Dr Sarosh Lodhi was chief guest on the occasion and gave away the prizes. He said Sindh Government and Secretary Sports Sindh Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah deserve commendation for promoting healthy activity in the province and praised efforts of KHA in reviving the game in the city.
Sindh Minister for Women Empowerment Syeda Shehla Raza also spoke on the occasion and said: “It’s a good omen that grounds of the city have started to fill with young boys and girls which is a healthy sign.”
Secretary Sports Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah said that the KHA Sports Complex will get the new Astro Turf soon.—Agencies
Ghazala, Ana clinch golf titles
LAHORE: Ghazala Yasmin of Garrison Club and Ana James Gill of hosts Royal Palm Club won the gross and net event, respectively of the Royal Palm Ladies Golf Championships here on Sunday.
The participants were divided into three categories based on their handicap — ranging between zero and fifteen, 16 to 24 and 25 and 36.
There was also a match for juniors. Winning junior was Zoha Zeeshan, second position went to Yasmeen Zaman while Aliha Amjad came third.

Mirpurkhas outfits in SSB basketball final
TANDO JAM: In an historic day for Mirpurkhas, both its teams qualified for the SSB Kashmir Day Cup basketball final on Sunday by defeating their respective rivals in the semifinals here at the SAU Gymnasium.
In the first match, Mirpurkhas Fighters overcame Hyderabad’s Qadri Club 54-52 in a spine-chilling semifinal with Ehsan Khan (22 pts) and Haris Khan (15 pts) being the main scorers for the winners.
In the other semifinal, Mirpurkhas Warriors beat Tando Jam Club 48-41 with Aslam Khan (13 pts) and Mohammad Saleem (12 pts) being the leading scorers for the winners.—Agencies
Saqib dazzles in Polo Cup final
LAHORE: Saqib Khan Khakwani’s superb four-goal show inspired FG Polo/Diamond Paints to a 7-3 victory against Barry’s in the Corps Commander Diamond Paints Polo Cup final here at the Jinnah Polo and Country Club (JP&CC) ground on Sunday.
Saqib’s team-mates Ramiro Zaveletta and Abbas Mukhtar contributed two and one goal, respectively. From the losing side, Ruelo Trotz (2) and Nafees Barry (1) scored.
Meanwhile, the subsidiary final was won by HN Polo, who outpaced Newage Cables 8 1/5-4.
