Two naval officers promoted

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: Two officers of the Pakistan Navy have been promoted to the higher ranks, a press release issued by the navy’s public relations department said here on Monday.

Commodore Mushtaq Ahmed SI(M) and Commodore Agha Danish have been promoted to the rank of rear admiral with immediate effect.

Rear Admiral Mushtaq Ahmed joined Pakistan Navy in 1970 and was commissioned in the engineering branch in 1973.

He graduated as a mechanical engineer from Karachi University in 1974 and specialized in marine engineering from Pakistan Navy Engineering College in 1975.

Admiral Ahmad did his graduation from Joint Services Staff College (JSSC) as well as National Defence College (NDC). He did MSc in joint warfare and defence and strategic studies from Quaid-i-Azam University.

He held various field, command and staff appointments, including chief engineer of destroyers/frigates, general-manager in dockyard, chief inspector naval stores, chief staff officer to commander logistics, commanding officer PNS Karsaz, project director Submarine Rebuild Complex at Ministry of Defence Production and director-general indigenous technical development at naval headquarters.

Rear Admiral Agha Danish was commissioned in the operations branch of Pakistan Navy in 1974 and later joined naval aviation.

He has held several command and staff appointments including command of two destroyers — PNS Babur and Tariq.

He also served as commander naval aviation and commandant PN War College, Lahore.

At the naval headquarters, the admiral was principal secretary to chief of the naval staff.

He is a graduate of National Defence College and holds a masters degree in defence and strategic studies.
