Flags fly half-mast in mourning

LAHORE, Oct 10: National flags at all government and semi-government buildings flew half-mast at the start of the three-day mourning period announced by the government for those killed in the massive earthquake on Saturday.

Various organizations have announced aid in cash and kind for the people and families affected by the devastating quake.

Financial houses, government agencies and employees, as well as the staff of semi-autonomous institutions have announced to donate their one month salary for quake victims.

The Punjab government has dispatched two trucks containing 350 tents, 500 blankets and 950 unstitched tents, besides other relief items for the affectees in Azad Kashmir.

Likewise, 10,000 flour bags of 20kg are being sent to the earthquake affectees in Murree, while four trucks of food supplies have reached Rawalpindi from where these items will be sent onwards to Azad Kashmir.

The Punjab government has also sent four trucks loaded with medical supplies, each containing 31 different kinds of medicines costing Rs500,000, to treat those injured in the devastation.—APP
