Quake victims brought to Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA, Oct 10: Earthquake victims, who sustained serious injuries, are being shifted to DHQ and THQ hospitals in Punjab from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and other areas.

While state of emergency has been imposed on almost all these hospitals and medical officers and paramedical staff have been asked to remain on the alert round-the-clock, it was learnt here on Monday.

DHQ medical superintendent Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema said that around 70 beds were ready for quake victims where suitable medical facilities would be provided to them under the supervision of PMA president Dr Mian Zahid Mahmood.

He said that quake victims would also be shifted to various basic health centres under the care of the medical officer concerned.

Meanwhile, the district administration opened Hilal-i-Ahmer fund of Rs1 million for quake victims and urged the people to come forward and help their brothers in this hour of trial.

The meeting was presided over by DCO Khalid Masood Chaudhry while EDO (health) Dr Zafar Iqbal Niazi and other members of the committee announced donations for the victims.
