THATTA: The Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) has developed a new Sindhi keyboard, which is more comprehensive than all the keyboard applications available in digital market as it also includes aspirates — consonants having aspiration as their final component.

The SLA chairman Dr Mohammad Ali Manjhi told journalists here on Friday that the authority had been striving to resolve the problem of lack of aspirates in available Sindhi keyboards and the new keyboard was the first step to achieve this aim.

He urged all institutions, particularly Sindhi newspapers, to cooperate with the authority in popularising the new Sindhi keyboard which was compatible with Windows and Apple Macintosh and featured all the aspirates along with the 52 alphabets of Sindhi.

‘The new keyboard also includes aspirates, which are missing in available apps’

He said the keyboard would be a great help for Sindhi language composers, academicians, frequent users and writers of Sindhi as well as primary school students and future generations as it made Sindhi computing easier for them.

He said the SLA was making efforts to ensure correct usage of Sindhi language and the authority’s informatics department was working on the use of modern technology for this purpose.

Dr Manjhi said that the authority would soon come up with more good news in this regard. The digitalisation and adoption of modern technology in promoting Sindhi language would pave the way for enabling Sindhi to stand shoulder to shoulder with developed languages of the civilised world, he said.
