GUJRANWALA, Oct 9: The Christian community of Kotli Khano area on Sunday registered their protest against police’s failure to arrest the killers of a peasant and demanded that the chief minister and IGP should bring the culprits to book.

A Christian community delegation, led by pastor Sharif Alam, met Gujranwala DIG Zafar Abbas Lak and informed him that some influential landlords of the village had killed a Christian peasant on the independence day when he was working in the field. The landlords wanted to illegally grab the land.

The Bombanwala police, they said, had failed to arrest the suspects and, in fact, a constable was supporting them. The landlords had threatened complainant Shabir Masih with dire consequences, they said, demanding that the culprits should be arrested without delay.
