NAROWAL: Six people were booked for torture of five members of a family, including women and children, in an attempt to grab their land in Bakarwal village on the outskirts of Shakargarh.

About 12 men, armed with iron rods and sticks, entered the house of Karamat Ali and slapped and injured women and children of his family after they failed to occupy his land.

Five people, including Rubina Bibi and her children, were seriously injured in the violence and they were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Shakargarh.

Narowal District Police Officer Hafiz Wahid took notice of the incident after a video of women and children being slapped, punched and beaten with iron rods by the suspects went viral on social media and electronic media.

The Kot Ninan Police registered a case against six people, namely Saeed, Ali Akbar, Salman Ali, Khalid, Qasim and Rasheed Ahmed, on the complaint of Rubina.
