TAXILA: Rescue officials risk their lives to provide relief to people which makes them true heroes, MNA retired Maj Tahir Sadiq said on Friday.
He was presiding over an event held at Rescue 1122’s district headquarters in connection with the 11th anniversary of the founding of the emergency service in Attock. Lauding the services of rescue officials, the MNA said it was a dynamic institution that had effectively been rendering relief and rescue services to people for the last 11 years in Attock and 15 years in Punjab.
Rescuers sacrifice their time and even risk their lives to provide relief to people affected by accidents, emergencies and disasters in any country, he said, highlighting that the service was the only rescue organisation registered by the United Nations, which was a matter of honour.
He urged other departments to follow in the footsteps of Rescue 1122 to gain people’s trust, adding that all possible resources would be spent for the development of the service and welfare of its staff.
