NAWABSHAH, Oct 7: A toss will decide the fate of Awam Dost Panel candidate Faryal Talpur and Nawabshah Awami Ittehad candidate Khan Mohammad Dahri for the seat of district nazim on Saturday.
The last phase of the local body elections had ended in a tie between the two competitors as they both had secured 328 votes.
Faryal Talpur was the district nazim in the first term of local bodies.
The returning officer and the first additional district and sessions judge, Amjad Ali Qazi, told Dawn that three rejected votes — one from Daulatpur and two from Daur polling stations — would be rechecked in the presence of the candidates on Saturday.
He said that if the tie position continued, there would be a toss between the two.
Imdad Raho, runner-up candidate on seat of taluka nazim Sakrand, filed an application before returning officer and civil judge Mohammad Manazirul Haq for recounting which was rejected by the returning officer.
Mr Raho, candidate of the NAI for seat of taluka nazim Sakrand, secured 77 votes against Syed Ghulam Ali Shah of the ADP who won by obtaining 78 votes.
