KARACHI: PS official acquitted

KARACHI, Oct 7: An accountability court acquitted on Friday a former deputy general manager and a contractor of the Pakistan Steel in a Rs167 million corruption case.

Judge Parkash Lal Ambwani of the AC-4 exonerated A H Askari, ex-DGM, and contractor Khawaja Qadeer from the charges while giving them benefit of doubt.

The judge ordered that the case against former PSM chief Usman Farooqi, who is an absconder in the case, be kept on dormant till his arrest.

The accused were prosecuted for causing a loss of Rs167 million to the national exchequer.
