Opposition firm to oust ‘incompetent’ govt: PPP

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Democratic Movement will stage its power show on Monday (tomorrow) in Batkhela, Malakand district, in order to pave the way for ousting Imran Khan’s government.

This was stated by Pakistan Peoples Party provincial secretary information Senator Rubina Khalid at a press conference in Peshawar Press Club on Saturday.

She said that the entire PDM leadership, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Maryam Nawaz, would address the public meeting. She said that being host party of the public meeting the PPP had completed its preparations to ensure participation of maximum number of people in it from different districts of Malakand division.

Flanked by party’s provincial deputy secretary information Gohar Khan Inqilabi and others, Rubina Khalid referred to the sit-in of Hazara community in Quetta and said if Prime Minister Imran Khan was not able to face the protesting heirs of slain coal miners how would he resolve the longstanding problems of the nation.

She said that Imran Khan should apologise to heirs of the massacre victims over his statement regarding ‘blackmailing’, asking how the innocent people could blackmail the PM.

The PPP lawmaker said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had been misleading the nation in name of prosperity and development, but it was unable to initiate any mega uplift project during the last two and a half years.

She said PTI had been in the power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the past over seven years, but it failed even to complete the single project of Bus Rapid Transit. She said the prime minister should admit his government’s failure and step down to hold fresh general elections.

The PPP provincial spokesperson also rejected the government’s Sehat Sahulat Card plan and said the rulers should improve the condition of public sector hospitals to facilitate the people. She said health card was not the solution to problems unless hospitals were equipped with required machinery and medicines.

She said that the opposition parties had joined hands to rid the nation of the ‘incompetent’ rulers as early as possible. She said that PPP would not leave the field open for the government and it would also contest the Senate election.

Gohar Inqilabi said that the ill-advised policies of the government had led to record price hike and unemployment in the country. He claimed that the PDM’s massive gatherings had baffled the rulers and thus the government had started registering FIRs against the activists of opposition parties in different cities for organising public meetings.

In Bajaur, the opposition parties on Saturday announced to ensure maximum participation of their workers in the PDM Batkhela rally.

They made announcements in this regard during separate meetings. The ANP local chapter meeting was held at the resident of its district president Gul Afzal Khan in Khar.

The PML-N district chapter meeting presided over by Shahabuddin Khan also announced that a large number of activists would attend the Batkhela meeting. Similar meetings were also held by the PPP and JUI-F leaders in Bajaur.
