PESHAWAR, Oct 6: The federal government has sanctioned Rs618 million for irrigation schemes in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). Of this, Rs95 million has been allocated for new schemes and Rs522 million for ongoing projects.
According to the irrigation department of Fata, the federal government had approved Rs6.96 million for three ongoing and three new irrigation schemes in the area.
The federal government has approved a grant of Rs39.42 million for two new schemes in Bajur Agency and Rs23.95 million for schemes that are in progress.
Similarly, a grant of Rs. 39.77 million has been approved for various schemes being carried out in Khyber Agency. No new project has been approved for the agency during the current fiscal year.
Sources said that one new scheme has been approved for the Peshawar chapter of the Frontier Region and Rs7.167 million set aside for two ongoing projects.
A grant of Rs64.41 million has been sanctioned for irrigation schemes that are in progress in Kurram agency while Rs20.81 million have been approved for two new and two on-going projects in the Orakzai agency.
The government has approved Rs187 million for seven under implementation and two new schemes in the North Waziristan Agency while Rs6.80 million have been sanctioned for one new and one ongoing scheme in the Kohat chapter of Frontier Region.
Similarly, one under implementation and two new projects in the Bannu and Lakki Marwat chapter of frontier region a grant of Rs11.48 million has been okayed.
A sum of Rs110.24 million has been approved for one new and eight under implementation development schemes in the South Waziristan Agency whereas Rs46.61 million have been okayed for six new and ongoing schemes in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan. —APP
